I ❤️ Yankee Candle

If you've noticed the sudden boost of Yankee Candle on my Instagram, that's because I became a Yankee girl this past holiday! 

But my obsession with Yankee Candle didn't only start recently. I've always known about them (I'm a big fan of scents and I do my retail-therapy research!) and have always wanted to buy them, but have also always held back because I'm kind of intimidated by the idea of spending hours sniffing through all the different scents in the store and pissing the salespeople off with my fickle-mindedness. 

So when this part-time gig came along (thank you Emelia), it served as the perfect opportunity for liberation. The scent-whore is freed! 

On my first day of work, I got the chance to sample all the Christmas fragrances and was immediately obsessed with Candy Cane Lane - no big surprise! But a couple more shifts in and my new fave scent became the gourmet-smelling Christmas Cookie, which was weirdly also the one I disliked most at first. In fact, I might have spent half of the rest of my working time uncapping and capping the jars and tumblers just so I can get a stronger whiff of the Christmas Cookie candle without looking like some sniff-addict.

So of course, I had to get a huge jar of Christmas Cookie for myself. You don't just let go of a love this strong. My house now smells like someone just baked in it, and I friggin love it! 

But like I said earlier on, I'm fickle and I'm a scent-whore, so I just had to get a couple of the other fragrances that I had my nose on, in smaller, cheaper, but just as indulgent forms - voltives. I ended up buying 3 more voltives for myself - 1 Candy Cane Lane, 1 Lucious Plum, and 1 Balsam & Cedar. 

After burning my Candy Cane Lane one the other day, I reckon voltives are one of human's greatest inventions. 

These puny blocks of wax can last for up till 15 hours, giving you more than enough burn time to evaluate your love for the scent and consider if you want to invest in a bigger jar/tumbler.

Given my hoarder-habits and my love for jars (mason jars, cookie jars, whatever), I know for sure that I'll end up getting loads of them jar-ed candles, so I really appreciate the chance to sample the scents before making a bigger purchase. Plus, you can buy a whole bunch of different scents (which is what I'm planning to do) and have fun burning them one by one to figure out your personal favourite too.
